If you log into multiple enableHR accounts - for different brands, entities, or regions - you are required to register each login with a unique email address.
This is expected behaviour in our platform and is required for proper access control, user management, and security.
Why a Unique Email Address Is Required
Our login system is powered by Microsoft Azure, a widely supported and secure identity and access platform used by thousands of organisations globally.
Each login in Azure is treated as a distinct user identity, which means:
-
The email address must be unique for each login
-
The same email cannot be reused across multiple accounts
-
This supports consistent handling of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and account recovery
This setup helps ensure your logins are properly separated and secured, especially if different accounts have different permissions, responsibilities, or access requirements.
How Plus Addressing Helps
Most major email services, including Microsoft 365, Gmail, and iCloud, support plus addressing, a simple feature that lets you customise your email address while still receiving all messages in your main inbox.
For example, if your primary email is:
You can register additional logins using:
All emails sent to these addresses will be delivered to your main inbox, but each login will have its own unique identity, as required by the system.
When Should You Use Plus Addressing?
You should use plus addressing if:
-
You manage multiple HR platform accounts
-
You need to register more than one login under your name
-
You are using 2FA or MFA and need distinct login credentials
-
You want to keep your account structure secure and compliant while simplifying inbox management
This is not a workaround or temporary fix. It is a supported and recommended solution for managing multi-account access securely and efficiently.

FAQs
“Can I just create a brand-new email instead of using plus addressing?”
You can absolutely create a separate email account if you prefer, but using plus addressing is usually the simpler option. It avoids the need to:
-
Log into multiple email accounts
-
Monitor multiple inboxes
-
Share new addresses with IT or administrators
Plus addressing allows you to keep everything in one place while still meeting system requirements.
“Will this work with my email provider?”
Most modern email providers support plus addressing, including Microsoft 365, Gmail, iCloud, Hotmail, Yahoo, and others. We’ve included detailed instructions below.
If you're unsure, we recommend testing it by sending yourself an email to a +
version of your address and confirming it arrives in your inbox.
“Why do I need a different email? Other systems let me reuse the same one.”
It’s true that some systems allow the same email address to be reused across different logins. Our platform, however, uses Microsoft Azure for authentication, and it is intentionally designed to treat each login as a separate user.
This structure ensures that features like multi-factor authentication, user auditing, role-based permissions, and account isolation all work correctly.
“Can’t you just change the settings to allow duplicates?”
This is not a limitation we can override. Microsoft Azure requires a unique email address for each identity, and this helps ensure proper login control, especially when users access different business entities or operate in different roles.
We’ve adopted this structure intentionally to support security, reliability, and flexibility at scale.
"What if my email provider doesn't support plus addressing?"
Most mainstream email providers fully support plus addressing. If you’re using a corporate email domain with an internal mail system, you may want to check with your IT team. You can test it by sending an email to yourself with a +
variation and verifying that it arrives.
"Can't you link my accounts under one login instead?"
We understand the appeal of account linking, and it is something we continue to evaluate for future development. However, due to the structure of how brands and entities operate independently in our HR platform, keeping logins separate ensures we can deliver secure, role-specific access and reporting per environment. Plus addressing offers a lightweight and flexible way to manage multiple accounts in the meantime.
"What if plus addressing is not supported by my email provider?"
If your email provider doesn't support plus addressing:
-
Create Separate Email Accounts: Set up distinct email addresses for each account you require access to
-
Use Email Aliases: Some providers allow the creation of aliases that forward to your main inbox.
