FAQ - (Paired) users - What this means and how it affects you

For Partners, there will commonly be a need for you to login to a customer's account and administer the data or assist them with their usage of the application. To learn how to do this, you can visit our Knowledge Base page about logging into a customer's account. We always recommend using the "Login as me" option available on your Partner dashboard to login to your clients account as this will allow you to create a (paired) user in the customer's account.

A user with the (Paired) designation is essentially a ghost user profile. They're able to gain access to an account but do not take up a user quota. We designed this feature specifically for our Partners as there was a need for Partners to access their customer's accounts without negatively impacting the amount of users they were allowed to have in the system.

A (Paired) user is automatically created by the system anytime a Partner uses the "Login as me" option for the first time on a customer's account. The (Paired) user will then appear in the "Users" tab of the customer's account. That (Paired) user is then automatically given the standard set of roles/permissions as set by the account's automation settings. For most customer accounts, this would be dependent on what hub they belong to.

The Partner or customer can then go in and alter the (Paired) users roles/permissions as needed to ensure they have the correct level of access to the account. The only way to stop a Partner from being able to create (Paired) users and gaining access to the account is if the customer goes into the Account Settings and unticks the Allow Partner to Login condition under Commercial -> Partner.

(Paired) user will not be able to login to eSS using this feature.

The linked record feature will not work for (Paired) users as they are ghost users and do not technically exist in the account. The linked record feature will only work for user profiles that actually exist within an account.
