Changes coming to Termination process/behaviour in enableHR

On Friday evening 18th March 2016, we will be deploying a change to our Production site regarding the handling of Terminations in our system.  enableHR will now be able to handle future dated terminations by using the status "Terminating".  We are planning to also update all of our importers to handle future dated terminations but this will be done later in 2016.  Currently the changes listed below are only applicable when completed at the record or via a checklist.

An overview of the changes

From the Record

Terminating - From the record, you will be able to specify a date in the future that you would like your Employee, Volunteer or Contractor to be terminated (their end date).  To do this you will need to select the Status "Terminating" from the dropdown and select a date of either today or in the future.  Afterwards, their status will be set to "Terminating" and will be shown as a "Current" record when searching.  On the night of the date of Terminating, an internal process automatically runs in enableHR and the system will automatically update the status of the record to "Terminated" and the record will then be Not-Current.

Terminated  - From the record, you will be able to specify a date in the past that you would like your Employee, Volunteer or Contractor to be terminated (their end date).  To do this you will need to select the Status "Terminated" from the dropdown and select a date of either today or in the past.

From our standard Termination checklists

Terminating - From the checklist, there will be a new step asking if the termination is in the Today/Past or in the future.  Based on your selection it will unlock another step.  If future is selected, you will be able to specify a date in the future that you would like your Employee, Volunteer or Contractor to be terminated (their end date).  After the checklist is complete their status will be set to "Terminating" and will be shown as a "Current" record when searching. On the date of Terminating, an internal process runs in enableHR overnight and the system will then automatically update the status of the record to "Terminated" and the record will then be Not Current.
